since 1970'sThe National Climate Change Security Response Programme (NCCSRP) is an intervention aimed at offering support to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, as well as other actors, with a special emphasis on the recently launched Greening program.
The NCCSRP's ambition is to provide strategic preparedness for National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs), the National Police Service (NPS) command, Correctional and Borstal Services to facilitate the implementation of climate change interventions.
The Ministry of Interior and National Administration has a country-wide infrastructure of NGAOs. This offers a robust potential to provide coordination support to achieve the objectives of the Ministry of Environment.
What problem are we supporting the resolution of?
Climate Change remains a significant challenge to Kenya's aspirations to achieve sustainable development goals. There is overwhelming evidence that most sectors of social and economic development are severely affected by Climate Change and climate variability. Climate Change has also proven to be a significant catalyst to intercommunal conflict.
The main objective of the National Climate Change Security Response Programme (NCCSRP) is to build capacity of all NGAOs towards effective participation and coordination in the government's Climate Change programmes.
